The browser tools work with no account: convert GLB, OBJ or 3MF to STL and open STL or GLB files in the viewers, and nothing is uploaded. Generating a 3D model from your photo needs a quick sign-in with Google or email, so your credits and models are saved to your account.

One clear subject in soft, even light against a plain background, ideally shot from a three-quarter angle so more of the shape shows. Image to 3D model engines have to guess the hidden back, so avoid blur, cut-off edges and clutter. Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB.

Which AI engine is best: TRELLIS 2, Hunyuan 3D or Tripo?

For most image to 3D model work, start with TRELLIS 2, the default: Microsoft's open model gives fine detail and PBR textures. Pixal3D stays closest to your photo's shape, Hunyuan 3D 3.1 Pro adds detail for more credits, Rodin Gen-2.5 Fast is quickest and TRELLIS suits cheap drafts. For text prompts, Tripo H3.1 is the default.

Usually about a minute, and most runs finish in under two minutes: around 30 seconds on the fast engines and about two minutes on the most detailed one. Each engine tab shows its typical time, so you can trade a little speed for extra detail when it matters.

Image to 3D model vs text to 3D: what's the difference?

Accepted Answer

Image to 3D model generation rebuilds the object in your photo, so its shape and colours follow the picture. Text to 3D invents a new object from a description: handy when you have no photo, with less control over the details. Text prompts work with Tripo H3.1, Hunyuan 3D 3.1 Pro, and Rodin Gen-2.5 Fast.

Does image to 3D model work with several objects in one photo?

Accepted Answer

Each run takes one image and returns one GLB, and image to 3D model engines do best with one main subject. With several objects in frame they may merge into a single, less detailed mesh, so crop to the object you want or generate each one separately. Uploading several views of one object isn't supported.

GLB, STL or OBJ: which format should I download?

Accepted Answer

Every image to 3D model you make is saved as a textured GLB, the best fit for Blender, game engines and the web. Choose STL for 3D printing, OBJ for older 3D apps (geometry and UVs, no textures) or PLY. All conversions run in your browser. 3MF, USDZ and FBX export aren't supported yet.

Can I 3D print a model made from a photo?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Convert the GLB to STL in your browser, then open it in Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or any other slicer. AI models are meshes, not CAD, so you may still need to scale them, add supports or repair small holes before printing. The Image to STL page walks through the full print workflow.

How do I import my 3D model into Blender?

Accepted Answer

Download the GLB of your image to 3D model from My creations, then in Blender choose File → Import → glTF 2.0 (.glb/.gltf). The mesh and its PBR textures come in together, ready to edit, light and render. Blender also opens STL and OBJ, but those files carry no textures, so GLB is the better pick.

Can I make game assets with image to 3D model AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for props, items and characters. The GLB keeps its PBR textures and opens in Godot, or in Unity and Unreal through their glTF importers. AI meshes are dense and have no rigging, so for real-time games reduce the polygon count in Blender first and rig the model there if it needs to move.

Can I make a 3D character or pet figurine from a photo?

Yes. Upload a sharp photo of your pet, a toy or a piece of character art, and the image to 3D model generator builds a stylised figure: a likeness, not a scan. Models are static, with no rigging. Export an STL to print a figurine; the AI 3D Character Generator page has more tips.

Can I use AI-generated 3D models commercially?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the engine's licence. TRELLIS, TRELLIS 2, and Pixal3D are released under the MIT licence; the other engines follow their providers' terms, and Tencent's Hunyuan 3D licence includes territory restrictions. Check the licence on each engine card before you sell an image to 3D model or use it in a product. The photos and prompts you upload stay yours.

Are my photos and 3D models private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your uploads and every image to 3D model you generate are private to your account in My creations and kept until you delete them, and we don't use them to train AI models. To generate, your image goes to fal.ai and, for some engines, to the model's maker. The browser converters never upload anything.

Question 16

What happens if a generation fails?

Accepted Answer

You get your credits back automatically. If an image to 3D model run fails, the credits it used return to your balance and you can retry with the same engine or another one; a cleaner photo often helps. Refunds cover failed runs, not finished models you'd simply like to redo.
